Ok, I admit it. I'm a twenty-something female working a corporate job who lives for the end of the day, that time when the clock magically reaches 5pm. Instead of writing a blog about my life which, unfortunately, is hijacked by work way too much, I thought I'd write about my passion: music.
I don't know about everyone else out there, but I'm tired of all the crappy music on the radio and MTV (do they still play music?) these days. I grew up in the 90s when bands like Nirvana, U2, and Soundgarden ruled the airways. Yes, those were the big guns, but I also discovered other lesser known acts like God Lives Underwater, Jawbreaker, Shudder To Think, among others. You could say the 90s were a time when indie was gloriously mainstream. I recently discovered an amazing music service called Music Choice through my television. Their station "Classic Alternative" is right up my alley. Check it out if you have digital TV service through Comcast (it may be offered by other service providers as well - look here for more information). I was inspired by that station to create this blog in which I'll post a YouTube video of a 90s song that was meaningful to me somehow. Then, we'll discuss it.
I thought I'd start off with Kiss Them For Me by Siouxsie & the Banshees. This song always stood out to me due to the sample of Indian classical music that plays throughout. I guess as an ode to that, several pictures of Hindu gods and goddesses are shown throughout the video. The song itself has such an amazing, trippy feel to it. Just love it.
Discuss.
